Coach
and Referee
Region 712 - South Bay is committed to providing qualified and knowledgeable coaches, referees and volunteers.
We will provide information for upcoming clinics and
training which our volunteers can participate in as
a member of Region 712. If you are interested in any other
training/clinics
please feel free to contact our commissioner, coach administrator or referee administrator.
We are encouraging
all of our coaches to complete their certifications this year.
There are several coaching courses already planned for this summer and
now is the time to make plans for your continued certifications and
upgrades. Remember this will ensure that no teams miss the playoffs in
November and December, and, of course, our children will benefit from
having improved coaches.
Here are the basics for the age-appropriate training requirements
matrix. All listed requirements must be on file in the eayso database in
order to be certified. All coaches must AYSO Coach Safe Haven. In
addition:
To coach:
U16-U19 - must have AYSO Advanced coach certification
U14 - must have AYSO Intermediate coach certification
U12 - must have AYSO U12 coach certification
U10 - must have AYSO U10 coach certification (however, U12 is
recommended)
Also, these coach training courses are progressive. You must complete
them in order, so the U12 must be completed prior to attending the
Intermediate course, and the Intermediate must be completed before the
Advanced.
Also, please pass this information along to any coach you know. This
includes any U8 and U6 coaches as well. Especially for any teams U14 or
above, anyone even thinking about coaching should plan to attend to
ensure their certifications are complete.
Let's all work together to obtain 100% coaching certification compliance
this fall!!

The AYSO Online Training &
Certification Courses are part
of the overall education and training model. These
opportunities are not intended to
replace any other method of training.
Recently, the NBOD approved the first
three online training courses. They are
Safe Haven Certification for Referees,
Safe Haven Certification for Coaches and
the BASIC course. To take any of these online courses,
volunteers should go to www.aysotraining.org. To access the
online modules and receive certification
or credit, you must be a registered AYSO
volunteer with an eAYSO user ID number,
and have access to a computer with
Internet and Flash Player 8. The Web
site will help you gain an ID number and
Flash Player 8 if you do not already
have them. Upon completion (and, in some
cases, passing a test), you will have a
chance to print a certificate of
successful completion, and your
volunteer record will automatically be recorded in
eAYSO. (eAYSO updates occur weekly.)
