Q. When are soccer sign ups and how much?

Sign ups are May and June our fee is $70.00 per player, regardless of the time period

Q. Where are soccer sign ups?

The majority of our registrations are at Montgomery Waller Rec center (airplane wing)

Please keep checking the web site for registration flyers.

Q. What is included in the player registration fee?

The registration fee includes the uniform, AYSO registration, SAI supplementary insurance, and regular fall season games. Kids may play on the same registration form until July 31 of the year following their original registration. Players may be invited to play on tournaments until then, for example

Q. Do you have teams made up of 4-6 year olds?

Yes, we are now taking kids who are 4 to under 19 years of age.

Q. We live near another region can my child play in your region?

Yes, AYSO welcomes kids from all areas.

Q. Where are the games played?

Games are generally played at South West High for younger divisions and San Ysidro High for older divisions. Note: The number of teams formed in a division determines if we have to play with other regions?

Q. When will my child’s coach contact us?

Depending upon the coach’s availability, players will normally be contacted the first or second week in August and a team meeting will be scheduled.

Q. When will team practice begin?

Practice may begin on or after August 1.

Q. It is now the middle of August and a coach has not contacted me. Have we been forgotten? What should I do?

Your coach is most likely on vacation, but feel free to contact the Division Rep for your child’s age group or send email to website@ayso712southbay.org for assistance.

Q. I would like my child to be on a particular coach’s team again. Is this possible?

“Balanced Teams” is one of AYSO’s five tenets. In divisions U10 – U19, special requests upset team balancing and therefore are not guaranteed. In divisions U5, U6 and U8, teams are formed based on where the players live or attend school.

Q. I need practices to be on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm?

All of our coaches are volunteers and since they are giving their time and effort, they get to choose practice days, times and locations. The only way to ensure a “special” day or time is to volunteer to coach your child’s team.  The league goes to extraordinary lengths to balance teams.  Your child will not be assigned to another team based solely on the location, day or times of the other team’s practices.

Q. My child has decided not to play soccer? How do I receive a refund?

Send an email to website@ayso712southbay.org or contact the child's coach to request refund. Feel out the form and submit to the league.

Q. How long is the soccer season?

Practices begin in August. The first game is usually the first Saturday after Labor Day and the last game is the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Teams that advance to post season play (U10 – U14, including All-Stars) could play until February.

Q. I would like to coach my child’s team but I really don’t know anything about soccer or coaching. Should I still volunteer?

YES!! AYSO provides training for all new and returning coaches. We have an experienced coaching staff that is here to assist all coaches. Everyone was once a new volunteer, and without volunteers we cannot have a program that will be the best possible for our children.

Q. My child has never played before. Will he/she play as much as those who played last year?

AYSO believes that everyone should play at least half of every game. Kids In divisions U8 and under play 75% of the time.

Q. Can I bring our family dog to practice or games?

AYSO and the school districts do not allow pets (except Seeing Eye dogs for the vision impaired) to be at the fields during practice or games. There is also No Smoking at any soccer fields.

Q. My team needs volunteer referees but I don't know that much about the game.  Can I still help my child's team?

Yes - There are two ways that you can help your child's team meet their volunteer referee commitments.  1) Take the referee training.  You will be given comprehensive training in all aspects of the game.  There is no better way to increase your enjoyment of the game than to learn it's rules.  If you are still not comfortable with your abilities, you will be assigned to U6 and U8 games.  Those games do not keep standings or scores, so they are a bit less competitive.  2) Volunteer as a Division Referee Coordinator.  You will help schedule referees for games throughout the season.  Your sole responsibility will be to make phone calls and coordinate with the Region Referee Coordinator.

Q. What is the best way to contact someone for more information?
